DNR publishes list of protected waters
Property owners near wetlands should check maps

Environment, Land, Government
The Department of Natural Resources has published the final inventory of protected waters and wetlands for our county. If you own land near a creek or any kind of wetland, you really ought to take a look at the map. This list is what decides which bodies of water are under state environmental regulations, and that can change what you are allowed to do on your property. It is best to know where you stand before you start any projects near the water. You can inspect the maps and lists yourself at the County Auditor’s office. It is better to be safe and check the details now than to run into a regulation problem later on. I am sure the folks at the auditor’s office will be happy to help you find what you need.
