Grant awarded for bridge planning

The South Dakota Department of Transportation has announced that a planning grant of $43,100 has been awarded for work on the Lac Qui Parle Street bridge in Gary, which crosses the west branch of the Lac Qui Parle River. It is always good news when our local infrastructure gets a bit of support, as we all know how important these crossings are for getting our goods and ourselves where we need to go safely. While this is just the planning phase, it’s a necessary first step toward keeping our roads and bridges in good repair. I’m sure the folks in Gary will be keeping a close eye on the progress of this project as it moves forward. A well-maintained bridge is worth its weight in gold, if you ask me.
