Minnesota Reports 80 Measles Cases, Highest Total Since 1990

The statewide update is a reminder for families in our region to review MMR vaccinations.

Minnesota health officials reported 80 measles cases so far in 2026, the highest annual total since 1990. In the October 29 update, the Minnesota Department of Health said 71% of the cases were among children under 18. All but two cases involved people who had not received two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine.

Why it matters in our region: Measles can spread rapidly when an infected person travels or comes into contact with people who are not protected. The statewide figure does not mean a case has been reported in our communities.

Residents can check their vaccination records and ask a health care provider or public health office about the recommended MMR schedule.
