MNsure Offers a Preview of 2027 Insurance Plans Before Enrollment

Finalized 2027 insurance rates are rising, and MNsure open enrollment begins November 1.

MNsure announced October 16 that Minnesotans can preview health and dental insurance options for 2027 through its comparison tools. Open enrollment begins November 1, 2026.

WHAT WILL COVERAGE COST?

On October 1, the Minnesota Department of Commerce released finalized 2027 individual-market rates. Average insurer increases range from 9.9% to 21.1%, although individual premiums depend on the specific plan, age, location, and financial assistance. Those percentages do not mean every household will pay that much more. People should compare the full cost of coverage, including deductibles and provider networks.

MNsure says statewide 2027 choices include 211 medical and dental plans combined, but the plans available to any household depend on where that household lives. UCare plans are no longer offered for 2027, and people moving to other coverage should verify their doctors and medications.

IMPORTANT DATES

November 1, 2026: Open enrollment begins.
December 15, 2026: Last day to enroll for coverage beginning January 1, 2027.
January 15, 2027: Open enrollment ends; later selections take effect February 1.

WHY IT MATTERS IN OUR REGION

Farmers, small-business owners, self-employed workers, and families buying their own coverage should compare monthly premiums, expected out-of-pocket costs, local provider networks, and available financial help. MNsure's comparison tool can estimate eligibility for premium tax credits and public programs. Free assistance from certified brokers or navigators is also available.
