Redwood County Offers $100,000 in Forgivable Housing Loans; Deadline Oct. 30

Homeowners, landlords and housing developers can seek funding for qualifying construction and rehabilitation projects.

Redwood County has made $100,000 available through a new round of forgivable Housing Trust Fund loans intended to create or preserve affordable housing. Applications are due by noon Friday, Oct. 30, according to the county’s Economic Development Authority.

The program supports new housing construction, redevelopment and repairs to existing owner-occupied or rental properties. Eligible applicants include homeowners, property owners, local governments, nonprofits and for-profit housing developers.

The fall 2026 Redwood County Connection newsletter lists loan limits of up to $10,000 for single-family projects and $20,000 for multifamily projects. Applicants must provide a dollar-for-dollar match. The county says the loans carry no monthly payments or interest and that 20% of the balance is forgiven each year over a five-year compliance period, provided program conditions are met.

Income limits also apply to assisted housing. The county’s program materials describe assistance for owner-occupied housing serving households earning up to 115% of area median income and rental housing serving households earning up to 80% of area median income.

Eligible costs may include property acquisition, construction materials, labor and repairs to existing housing. Applicants should review the full request for proposals before committing to work because expenses and eligibility rules differ by project type.

Applications and program guidelines are available on the Redwood County EDA housing webpage. Completed applications may be emailed to RedwoodCountyEDA@co.redwood.mn.us or submitted at the Redwood County Administration Office. Economic Development Coordinator Grady Holtberg can be reached at 507-637-1122 for questions.

The EDA’s loan review committee will evaluate applications before recommendations proceed for county approval. Funding is limited, and submitting an application does not guarantee an award.
