Redwood County Voters Choose Between Fischbach and Osberg in Congressional Race
Minnesota's 7th District candidates outline different approaches to agriculture, rural health care and federal spending.

Redwood County voters are among those choosing Minnesota's next representative in the U.S. House for Congressional District 7 on Tuesday, November 3. Republican incumbent Michelle Fischbach faces DFL challenger Erik Osberg.
In separate interviews published October 26 by Marshall Radio, the candidates discussed farm policy, access to health care in rural communities, federal spending and the national debt.
AGRICULTURE AND TRADE
Fischbach emphasized expanding markets for farm products, fair trade agreements and legislation supporting year-round E15 ethanol sales. Osberg said unpredictable tariffs add uncertainty for farmers and argued Congress should take a stronger role in setting trade policy. Both discussed developing domestic demand for agricultural products.
RURAL HEALTH CARE
Fischbach pointed to telehealth, rural health transformation funding, and preserving the 340B drug discount program as ways to support rural patients and hospitals. Osberg called for broader changes to make access to health care less dependent on income or employment and said he would protect Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.
FEDERAL SPENDING
Fischbach advocated reviewing government programs, reducing unnecessary spending and improving oversight to prevent fraud. Osberg called for targeted spending reductions alongside changes to revenue collection, including greater taxation of corporations' U.S. earnings.
WHY IT MATTERS HERE
Agricultural markets, health care access and federal program funding all affect families, farmers and businesses across Redwood County and our region. The candidates' statements offer voters a way to compare their approaches before the polls close.
