U.S. Conducts Strikes on Iranian Targets in Strait of Hormuz
U.S. official says limited defensive strikes followed Iranian missile activity against American assets.
American forces carried out limited strikes against Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, November 2, a U.S. official told the Associated Press.
The official said the U.S. targeted Iranians using surface-to-air missiles against American assets. Iranian state television reported explosions on Qeshm Island.
The strikes appeared limited rather than a return to full-scale fighting and occurred one day before the U.S. midterm elections.
Vice President JD Vance said Monday that the administration remained optimistic about reaching a negotiated settlement with Iran.
