Wabasso EDA Creates $50,000 Childcare Development Grant Program

City matched a private grant to help expand care within the school district

The Wabasso Economic Development Authority announced a childcare development grant program in April 2026 to support licensed childcare providers serving the Wabasso school district.

The city secured a $25,000 grant through the Taylor Family Farms Childcare Grant Program and matched that amount, bringing the total funding pool to $50,000. The city reported that eligible projects could receive up to half their costs, with a $10,000 maximum award.

The program was designed to help providers purchase equipment, make safety upgrades and pay certain licensing-related expenses. It covers the school district area rather than only properties inside Wabasso city limits.

The original application deadline was May 15, 2026, so that deadline has passed. The source does not establish a new application round, and residents should contact the EDA before assuming funding is still available.
