Hi Neighbor.
I'm really glad you found this blog and that you're reading it. It means that something I've been working on for two years is one step closer to be a reality.
I have worked in rural media for over a decade, and media in general for almost 30 years. I have seen how the media landscape has changed, and too often, the people who suffer are the readers.
There are hundred good stories, or least a lot of good information, happening all around you every day.
But finding those million points of light is hard, especially when there isn't enough money to pay a local reporter and shareholders. That's why I created Betty. Betty crawls the websites in Redwood County every day looking for news and information the community should know.
I use AI to generate brief summaries and illustrations, and then I link to the original source. It's not magic, but hopefully it useful. And hopefully it is something Minnesota Riverlands will find worth support.
Because a community is defined by what it shares.
Nearly every living organism forms communities. Connection, cooperation, and shared information is fundamental for survival. My goal is simple: to share your community back to you!
In tough times, your community matters more than ever, your neighbors matter more than ever, and staying connected matters more than ever. My goal is just to let you know what your neighbors are doing, let you know about all of the brilliant points of light that make up a thriving town.
I hope you subscribe or support Minnesota Riverlands as I work to connect what makes Redwood County work.
